Depression is a serious illness that is often life threatening, and almost always incapacitating. Depressed people see no value in trying to improve anything, and in the worst cases, see no reason for continuing to live. They cannot cope with their families, with any setbacks, or with anything out of the ordinary. Making even the simplest decision, such as what to wear, can be overwhelming when one is clinically depressed. Deep sadness is a constant companion, and the accompanying stress increases the burden.

Depression is one of the primary side effects of chronic dehydration. The brain NEEDS water! You can alleviate depression significantly by rehydrating, allowing the natural brain chemicals to do their jobs.

Tryptophan is an amino acid that converts into the neurotransmitters essential for adequate brain function: serotonin, tryptamine, melatonin, and indolamine. Tryptophan also helps regulate salt content in the body, as well as mood. Depression and some mental disorders have a direct relationship to the amounts of tryptophan, and its product serotonin, available to the brain. Tryptophan is broken down more quickly in the liver when you are dehydrated.

With severe depression, increasing amounts of expensive antidepressants, most known as SRI’s or Serotonin Re-uptake Inhibitors, are necessary to replace those chemicals, just to allow the person to function enough to get through the day. Even then, there are side effects that cause other pressures on the patient and their family.

If you are deeply depressed, there is nothing to lose by rehydrating. Water is not going to hurt you. No other changes need to be made, only an increase in the intake of water. For depressed people, one change is about all they can handle at once anyway. It may take a monumental effort for the depressed person to integrate this change into the daily routine, but the benefits are immeasurable. Although the results are different for each person, within about three days of working up to full hydration, depression can be lifted. Often, antidepressants cause insomnia, loss of sex drive, and other side effects. Getting back to your normal mood, and eliminating the side effects, can certainly be a miracle in your life.

Once you begin to see changes in your mood, you can discuss with your physician how you should wean off any medications that you may have been taking. DO NOT stop any medication without discussing it with your doctor first, and developing a plan to gradually reduce the dosage, with medical monitoring.

Of course, to keep that positive change, you need to continue to stay fully hydrated. Even though you feel better, don't fall back into the old habits that caused your chronic dehydration in the first place. If you do, your ailments will come back. It doesn't matter where you are on the “I feel lousy” continuum. Water is going to help you. All it takes is more water today than you took in yesterday. Continue to increase your daily intake of water. Build on it day by day, until you are up to full hydration. Full hydration is half your body weight in ounces of water per day, plus another glass of water for every diuretic drink you consume.

Depression is such a soul-destroying disease, that if even only a small hope for relief is offered by drinking more water, it is worth the effort to try it. You have nothing to lose, and everything to gain, by drinking more water.

Treatment for Dandruff

Dandruff refers to the flaking scalp which falls like a snow flakes and settles on one’s brows, shoulders and clothes, but assumes an unpleasant , irritating condition associated with bacteria, in the case of excessive formation of scales on the scalp. These scales are formed from the horny layer of the skin.

Symptoms
The scaliness increases whenever the hair is brushed or rubbed. It may also appear as lumps or crusts on the scalp. Often there is itching as well, and the scalp may become red from scratching.

Causes
The main causes of dandruff are: impairment of general health, toxic condition of the system brought on mainly by wrong feeding, constipation and lowered vitality due to infectious diseases.

Other factors contributing to dandruff are emotional tension, harsh shampoos, exposure to cold and general exhaustion.

Treatment
Numerous medicated shampoos are available in the market for the treatment of dandruff. Most of these, however, in the process of curing the disorder, cause irreparable damage to the hair roots because of the synthetic ingredients contained in them. The treatment of dandruff has to be constitutional, if a permanent cure is desired.

The foremost consideration in the treatment of this disorder is to keep the hair and scalp clean so as to minimise the accumulation of dead cells. The hair should be brushed daily to improve the circulation and remove any flakiness. The most effective way to brush the hair is to bend forward from the waist with the head down towards the ground, and brush from the nape of the neck towards the top of the head. Short or shoulder-length hair can be brushed right from the roots to the ends in one stroke. In the case of long hair, two strokes would be best to avoid stretching the hair.

The scalp should also be thoroughly massaged every day, using one’s finger tips and working systematically over the head. This should be done just before or after brushing the hair. Like brushing, this stimulators the circulation, dislodges dirt and dandruff and encourages hair growth. For a proper massage, spread your fingers fanwise and slip them through the hair. With your thumb pressed behind your ears, press down on your scalp with your fingertips. Now rotate your fingers so that they move the scalp over the bony structure of the head. You will feel your skin move and the scalp tingle. Move up an inch at a time until you have covered the whole head. It is a very simple procedure, and takes only a few minutes to perform.

Several home remedies have been found useful in the treatment of dandruff. The use of fenugreek (methi) seeds is one such remedy. Two tablespoons of fenugreek seeds should be soaked overnight in water. The softer seeds should be ground into a fine paste in the morning.

This paste should be applied all over the scalp and left for half-an hour. The hair should then be washed thoroughly with soap nut (ritha) solution or shikakai.

The use of a teaspoon of fresh lime juice for the last rinse, while washing hair, is equally beneficial. This not only leaves the hair glowing but also removes stickiness and prevents dandruff. Washing the hair twice a week with green gram powder in curd is another useful prescription.

Dandruff can be removed by massaging one’s hair or half-an- hour with curd which has been kept in the open for three days, or with a few drops of lime juice mixed with amla juice every night, before going to bed. Another measure which helps to counteract dandruff is to dilute cider vinegar with an equal quantity of water and dab this on to the hair with cotton wool in between shampooing. Cider vinegar added to the final rinsing water after shampooing also helps to disperse dandruff.

Diet plays an important role in the treatment of dandruff. To begin with, the patient should resort to all-fruit diet for about five days. In this regimen, there should be three meals a day, consisting of fresh, juicy fruits, such as apples, pears, grapes, grapefruit, pineapple and peaches. Citrus fruits, bananas, dried, strewed or tinned fruits should not be taken. Only unsweetened lemon or plain water, either hot or cold, should be drunk. During this period, a warm water enema should be taken daily to cleanse the bowels and all other measures adopted to eradicate constipation.

After the all-fruit diet, the patient can gradually adopt a well- balanced diet. Emphasis should be on raw foods, especially fresh fruits and vegetables; sprouted seeds, raw nuts and whole grain cereals, particularly millet and brown rice. Further short periods on the all-fruits diet for three days or so may be necessary at a monthly interval, till the skin’s condition improves.

Strict attention to diet is essential for recovery. Starchy, protein, and fatty foods should be restricted. Meats, sugar, strong tea or coffee, condiments, pickles, refined and processed foods - all these should be avoided, as also soft drinks, candies, ice cream and products made with sugar and white flour.

Exposure of the head to the rays of the sun is also a useful measure in the treatment of dandruff.

Simultaneously, an attempt should be made to keep the body in good health. This also helps clear dandruff.
<img width='1' height='1' But with holiday parties galore, here are some tips just in case.

There are lot of ways to tackle with hangover which includes medicines and natural ways. The tips below are simple and easy to follow.

The Night Of Drinking Spree

Eat while you’re drinking to slow the absorption of alcohol.

Go slow. The body can process an ounce of alcohol an hour. Drink a glass of water for every alcoholic beverage you have.

Remember that sugary drinks mask the taste of alcohol, giving you an unrealistic view of how much you’re drinking.

Stick to one type of alcohol: "Never mix, never worry." Dark liquors contain more impurities that make for headaches.

Know when to stop!

Have a small snack before you go to bed.

The Day After

Re-hydrate. Drink water, juice, a fruit smoothie or a sports drink like Gatorade. More alcohol gives temporary relief but will just prolong the agony.

Medicate. Take multivitamins, vitamin C and an aspirin or alaxan.

Eat up. Eggs or bananas are good choices. Eggs are good sources of cysteine, a substance that breaks down toxins in the liver. Bananas are high in magnesium, which relaxes your pounding blood vessels, and natural antacids, which soothe an upset tummy.

Sleep it off. Close the blinds, unplug the phone, apply a cold washcloth to the forehead and get more sleep.

Work it out. Go for a walk. The exercise and fresh air will do your body good. Oxygen will help continue the process of breaking down toxins.

Manny Pacquiao and Dela Hoya Fight

It was a very interesting and exciting boxing game that was televized live on Saturday, December 6, 2008. Once again, Pacquiao, considered as living hero in the Philippines, had proven to the entertainment world that he is the best pound for pound fighter, by defeating the legendary Dela Hoya who did not continue the fight in round nine.

The Filipino boxer cleary outbox, outspeed, and outwit the Mexican boxer. This has added to the list of Mexican victims of the "Mexicutioner" (Pacquiao's new alias aside from the popular Pacman). The win is a very invaluable christmas present of Manny to Filipinos and more specially to her loving and beautiful wife, Jinkee, who is expected to give birth next month.

Dela Hoya's height, arms length, and experience advantages did not matter at all. The younger Filipino boxer prevailed against the rusty, slow, slim, and older Mexican fighter who made his first come back fight since 2007. It was a very different Golden boy I saw struggling his way out. The non-title fight was the fight for the money and fame.

Congratulations Pacman and to the Filipinos!!!

A test of faith

I would like to share this story to you.

There was a religious man who always did something to serve the lord. One day he participated a vigil in a nearby town for the celebration of a feast. It was already dawn when he decided to say goodbye to his friends. He had to come home early in the morning to feed the pigs and chickens. His family had a piggery and poultry farm. That day was his turn to feed them.

He hurriedly took his bicycle and pedalled his way home. He did not see the blind curve along the road. It was too late when he found out and he went straight into a pit. As he hurled himself into the darkness, his hands were like tentacles trying to get a hold of anything around him to stop him from falling.

He was lucky enough to grab something like a twig of a tree which he recognized later on as a thick root of a tree. As he was clinging to his dear life, he instinctively shouted for help. Nobody seemed to hear him. This time he prayed to God to save him. No human being could save him. He said, "Lord, please help me out of here." He was asking earnestly for the lord's help. After a few moment, to his astonishment and surprise, he heard a voice from above. "Jump," said the voice.

His prayer was answered at the right moment. He thought otherwise. What if after he jumped, no angel of God would be there to save him. He would surely plunge himself to death. He was afraid to follow what the voice had told him to do. In desperation, he said in a loud voice, "Was it you Lord, telling me to jump?" "Are you not joking?" There was a long moment of silence.

Finally, daylight had come to the rescue. He realized that he was just a few inches away from the ground. Jumping down would not cause him any trouble.

Economy and Politics

As we all know, no country in this planet is spared from the present worst economic situation. This is a worldwide problem. Leaders are taking various actions to act on it. To be specific, I would like to mention the United States of America and Canada.

In the United States of America, you will see unity among political parties by expressing their support for the newly elected president and its party. They set aside other political agenda and focus everyone's eyes to find solution to the problem.

In Canada, on the other hand, opposition parties are making a coalition to replace the present administration which they think is not doing anything to address the situation. This for me is a politically motivated drastic change they plan aimed at dismantling the present leadership in the first place and finding resolution to the main problem in the second place. Apparently there is no unity among them.

Whatever and however they do it, it is not significant as long as people will see the end result, that is, finding an effective solution to the problem.
